Never under-estimate a thief. Their intentions are misguided and unclear, otherwise, they would not attempt to commit a crime. Dogs are protectors and pets...part of the family for most. Protect the things you love most by helping to defend against criminal action.

Burglar Shoots the Dog

continued...

LeBow said he was gone approximately 35 minutes and when he drove up in his backyard, he noticed the bathroom window screen was off. Inside the house, a gas stove that sits under the window was broken, as if someone had stepped on it. Then he saw the door going from the dining room into the living room was closed and his dog was crying. LeBow owns a Doberman Pincher named Ruger.“I was really surprised to see my dog hurt,” he said. “It looks like he was aiming for his eyes because one was swollen.”LeBow kept money in a false wall in his house. He was saving it to start a handyman business called Outside Solutions. He saw pieces of wood had been ripped from the wall and a black box and an envelope of cash he kept inside were gone. The box and cash together totaled $1,200, LeBow said. Then LeBow checked the camera and found the footage. He recognized the man because he had been hanging around his friend’s house, the same one who had called him earlier asking him to come over. The video shows the man allegedly coming through a hallway and into the dining room. Ruger starts barking from the living room, which is off to the right. The man in the video holds the door as a shield as he shoots at the dog and then pokes him with a stick. The dog is heard barking and yelping in pain.“Then he goes into my kitchen and gets some deer meat out of the refrigerator and throws it at him,” LeBow said. “He was doing all of this so he wouldn’t bite him.”LeBow has two young children, but they were at day care during the incident.LeBow said Pierce is out on bail and he’s questioning why, because he knows of other charges against him.“It’s hard to relax with him being out,” he said. “I’ve put up a streetlight and I sit outside at night and listen.”Ruger was checked out and is doing fine, he said. “He’s such a good dog. My kids just love him,” he said.Pierce was arrested on a burglary of habitation charge and booked into the McCulloch County Jail, according to a dispatcher at the McCulloch County Sheriff’s Office. Pierce was released on a $20,000 bail.Burglary of a habitation charge is a second-degree felony and is punishable by two to 20 years in prison and a fine not to exceed $10,000.
